The American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. Annually, AAF member clubs bestow this honor upon outstanding members of the local advertising community.

About Roger Christian
Roger Christian of Roger Christian & Company, which has been in business since 1980. Roger started in the advertising industry in San Antonio in 1974 when he joined The Pitluk Group as an art director, quickly rising to the role of vice president/creative director. Roger produced award-winning work for clients such as the San Antonio Spurs, USAA, Clarke American, the Texas Film Commission and CarQuest. His company evolved from a creative boutique to providing turnkey services to his clients that include research, brand strategy/development, public relations and short/long-range strategic planning. Roger feels strongly that the quality of the creative product must be maintained regardless of the size or budget of the client.

In addition to all of this, Roger is committed to teaching the next generation of advertising executives through his position as an adjunct professor at Texas State University. Roger has taught several courses on graphic design and creative, often mentoring his students to become creative directors at some of the largest and most successful agencies in the area.

Roger’s work has earned him numerous awards, including being named an AdWeek Magazine Creative All-Star, and he is among the most recognized creative professionals in Texas. His work has appeared in many advertising and design publications, and he has been recognized by the Houston, Dallas and New York Art Directors Clubs. His cutting-edge and always-evolving design has earned him clients like La Mansion Del Rio/Watermark Hotel and Spa, Methodist Healthcare Ministries, Aftermarket Autoparts Alliance, Inc., Burleson’s Pure Honey, Blue Bell Creameries and Armed Forces Entertainment.

The impact of Roger’s creative goes beyond those organizations that purchase his services. Roger has a long history of providing a significant amount of his creativity and time to local non-profit organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Diabetes Association and the Bicycle Mobility Advisory Committee.

On Saturday, July 31st, AAF San Antonio presented Roger Christian with the 2010 Silver Medal Award.
